Visiting IDo

I was interested in visiting the IDo program here in San Francisco State University, I was able to talk to one of the students that works with IDo and asked her a few questions on how they attract people and how people know about IDo.  I didn’t receive much of an answer but only that they do a mass email newsletter to students and parents of students about the program, but I was invited to go check out the program and to have a talk with Professor Linder, as he would provide more information.

I did visit their workspace and was able to speak with Professor Linder briefly about how IDo works and how they promote it to other people. I expected a lot of great information from him but the amount of information he provided was more than I expected from him as he talked about planning, who, why , and where the target audience was and a list of objectives that would help out with their program. Having an interview with Professor Linder gave me a lot of insight on what my goal for this project is.

Concept Idea Discussion

I recently redesigned their logo and I didn’t have to do much work on it as their logo is already there it just needed to lose a little bit of weight.  There were a lot of things going around the logo that feels like their identity is getting lost in it. In the redesign I kept the sun, the stars, and the swirls everything else I took out. I removed their center logo because I think that the message gets lost when people look at it.

Since I redesigned the logo I talked to one of my panel members to see what she thought and explained my reasoning for removing most of the bloat in their old logo.  I also talked to her about their colors and the colors that were chosen. I didn’t pick the standard color that would represent the Philippines because that would only target Pilipino people.  I chose the color that would get everyone’s attention because the symbol itself already represents the Philippines and there’s no need to expand on that when picking out the colors.

Deciding on a Theme

I’ve been recently working with one of my panel members Evelyn, in deciding on a theme for rebuilding the website so that were able to have a similar theme.  We were deciding on having a typeface that would have a non-corporate typeface.  The things we decided on right now are Gill Sans or Baskerville.  Nothing is final yet but we were deciding on having the text to have a serif type.  With the color theme we are still undecided on what color to use, but I am thinking of deciding on my own and try making concepts using the same colors that PEP used on their textbook cover.
